Greetings!

We are pleased to announce the release of r2025-04 CYBER RANGES, code named Phobos!
This release introduces key improvements across the Main App, Scenario Composer, Admin App, and multiple Backend Services. Alongside new features, we’ve refined workflows, improved UI consistency, and resolved a range of bugs.

What’s New - APP

Editor Enhancements

The editor now supports highlighting and image alignment, providing finer control when formatting event, scenario, or report content.

Event Management

  • Added option to prevent termination of scenario instances via event configuration.

  • Expanded language support: Japanese is now available.

Observer Upgrades

  • Support for AGGREGATE question types.
  • New faction visibility mode: TEAM, allowing users to only view their team’s scoreboard.
  • Enhanced suspend/resume stack management directly from the Observer UI.
  • Observer scenarios now allow user faction changes in TvT events.

Profile & Navigation

  • Account Settings tab moved to the end of the profile tab list, now with icons for easier identification.

Reports

  • Switched to Report Service v2 for better performance and caching.

Dev Notes - Fixes and Improvements - APP

  • Battle Labs – tabs order aligned with the Events page.
  • Chat – focus is maintained when creating direct chats.
  • Filters – translation updates now persist after language change.
  • Observer Assessments – role handling improved in TTX multi-faction events.
  • Profile – VPN certificates can now be downloaded; LinkedIn badge shares display the proper badge image.
  • Teams & Organizations – consistent sorting, active member counts, improved error handling.
  • Org Statistics – timeframe labels updated to “last week/month” for accuracy.

Cloud Improvements

  • Ability to set custom display names for cloud images and snapshots.
  • Added clipboard copy button for raw image names.
  • New warning modal when replacing a cloud image on a live server node.

Scenario Editor

  • New role-based access controls for sections of the app, with an in-app request access feature.

  • Cloud Templates – improved naming display, snapshot display names are now configurable.
  • Drawer Navigation – new windows open reliably.
  • Filters – competence and wiki-related filters improved for multilingual support.

Platform Management

  • Platform classifications with nesting levels are now supported.
  • Enhanced LMS import/export, with improved error handling.
  • Encrypted system parameters are now available for sensitive configurations.

Theme & Badge Management

  • Badge Composer is restricted to PNG-only uploads.
  • Theme Editor automatically shows new themes post-creation.

  • Badges – fixed image loading issues.
  • Assessments (Proctoring) – locked fields for more consistent editing.
  • Banners – new layout options, specs display, and updated dependencies (Quasar, Vite, UI libraries).
  • User Groups & LMS – extended search and external ID visibility during competence linking.

Cloud Composer (2.2.0)

  • Search templates by cloud image ID.
  • Snapshots now accept custom display names.
  • Container images and IDs are fully searchable.
  • Improved error handling for AMQP stack actions.

Reports v2 (1.1.0)

  • Enhanced organization and event reporting with caching for large datasets.
  • Added support for team scoreboards and competence platform filters.
  • Multiple fixes: parameter serialization, swagger tokens, API stability, and caching optimizations.

Exam Engine (3.2.0)

  • Improved cache management and exam attempt percentage defaults.
  • Added scoreboard update notifier and additional endpoints for activity definitions.
  • Streamlined logging and error handling.

LRS (2.1.0)

  • Migrated to Java 17.
  • Added custom mappers, agent profile search, and new endpoints for profile management.

Subscription (2.6.0)

  • Now supports multiple PSPs.
  • Introduced GraalVM JIT-based runtime image for improved efficiency.

Injector Engine

  • Ansible Manager – improved health checks and initialization.
  • Editor – deprecated external choices.js dependency, improving stability.
  • Milestone Manager – new Swagger documentation endpoint (/docs/).
