Greetings!
On this new month, we are happy to announce our new r2025-03 CYBER RANGES release, code named Phoebe! This release is packed with some quality of life improvements, bug fixes and some new features. Let’s take a quick look at what’s new:
What’s New [APP]
Trainer Role
The highly requested role: ROLE_TRAINER is now available. This role elevates a regular USER role to have more control over the creation and administration of events/lobbies.
Why Trainer role
This role provides essential targets Instructors on the platform whose main goal is to:
- Orchestrate/create events
- Deliver/Instruct events
- Manage scenario instances
- Limited User management
- Teams management
With the above role, the Trainer can:

| Duration | Trainer can now set the duration/runtime of an event, both during initial configuration and during the event execution. |
| Participants | Trainer can: - Edit the maximum number of participants for a running event. - Invite/add participants to event. |
| Observer View | Trainer can: - View correct answers of the assessment. Initial not available as it required modifications of observer role permission by an admin enable account. |
| User Management | Trainer can: - Create new user accounts - Manage existing user accounts, to a limited scope - Create and manage teams - Create and manager user groups |
| Promo | Access and manager promo codes related to Subscriptions, Lobbies and Organizations. |
| Subscriptions | Trainer can view and assign subscriptions |
Dev Notes - New Features
Event Tooltips
- Additional tool tips added to the event configuration page to assist in parameter setup.
Platform
- Dynamic domain levels added for competences.

Chat
- Image sending in Chat tab, restored.
Competences
- New LMS competences have been implemented.
- Improvements made to competence display.
Events
- Various fixes applied to the creation page of an event.
- Improvements made to team search.
- Adjustments made to the injections tab in observer view.
Observer
- Pagination improvements on assessment
- Chat menu option available in drawer
- Report button visibility for Print option
Organizations
- Improvements to organization creation and user setup fields.
- Pagination fixes and styling
Thumbnail
- Image quality on subscription thumbnails, has been improved.
What’s New [Composer]
Approver Role
Similar to the trainer role from above, the Approver role aids users that primarily work with the composer (additional composer roles are required for full functionality).
This new roles will give users the ability to:

Scenario Editor
The scenario editor has received a new feature, Icons. You can now insert icons to the storyline, mission and other relevant sections:

What’s New [Admin]
Learning Management
It is now easier to port over Competence platforms to CYBER RANGES. Admins can now set up new frameworks, including the individual categories and competences.
